Project bio and what we did
Five personal perspectives of one estate, told in 9:16 and made on a tight budget.
We directed and produced A Barbican Love Series and Barbican Reels, capturing five distinct, highly personal perspectives of the Barbican Estate through the lenses of residents, workers and visitors.
Shot on a tight budget in collaboration with director Hal Howe and editor Otis Laws-Myatt, the vertical cinema short films explore the estate's brutalist geometry: from an elder who has called the estate home since childhood, to skilled stonemasons flown in from abroad, to university students finding inspiration under the concrete arches.
Alongside this we shot Youngers & Elders, a playful narrative of local teens taking the lead in preserving and sharing their community's heritage, proving that short form mobile content can carry profound, cinema grade emotional weight.
“Short form mobile content can carry profound, cinema grade emotional weight.”
